SECTION 2.5.1 - SEARCH FOR AUDIT
NO
USAGE: To find a transaction based on its audit number.
DISCUSSION: Each time you enter a transaction, anywhere within
T.L.A., the system determines the next audit number. This number is unique to a
batch of transactions and every transaction in that batch carries the same
audit number. Eg. if you post a TRANSFER
JOURNAL, each File and General Ledger transaction will carry the same
transaction audit number. This number is displayed on the screen during
transaction enquiries and is printed on most transaction reports. The SEARCH FOR AUDIT NO program searches
through all the transaction files and prints list of all occurrences of an
audit number. This function is particularly useful when you wish to find out
where a transaction has posted.
When you start the program, you are asked:
ENTER TRANSACTION AUDIT NUMBER TO SEARCH FOR
[______]
Enter a number from 1 to 999999 and press <Enter> or <F10>. T.L.A. will then search for that number and
present you with the report.
This function is also available through most
transaction enquiry programs via the RELATE option. This is usually
accessible via <F8>.
